Lady Hawks rally for area win, face Rusk next


LONGVIEW – Down 2-1, Pleasant Grove rallied past Bullard Thursday night to capture an area-round volleyball tilt.

Pleasant Grove (27-12) squeaked past the Lady Panthers 23-25, 25-23, 23-25, 25-17, 15-13. Bullard finished its season with a 29-13 record.

“The kids didn’t give up and kept battling point-for-point,” said coach Amy Collvins.

The Lady Hawks, 14-4A co-champs, will next advance to the regional quarterfinals to face 16-4A champion Rusk (31-8-1), which swept North Lamar in three sets Thursday.
